AAUW Arizona Endorses Outlaw Dirty Money Campaign

Outlaw Dirty Money 2020 Announces Endorsements
from Major Civic Organizations

PHOENIX — Following an initial rollout of a major, nonpartisan group of local and national supporters, Outlaw Dirty Money today released the endorsements of three major civic organizations: the Arizona chapters of the League of Women Voters, Sierra Club, and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).  The campaign was recently endorsed by the Arizona Democratic Party, End Citizen’s United, and Voters’ Right to Know.

“The movement to ensure Arizonans have a right to know who is funding their elections grows stronger every day,” said Terry Goddard, Co-Chair of Outlaw Dirty Money. “Our non-partisan coalition is focused on getting the Outlaw Dirty Money initiative on the 2020 ballot.  We know Arizonans support our policy: 91% in Tempe and 85% in Phoenix have already voted to pass similar proposals in local elections.  As we continue to gain statewide support, we’re excited that we can give all Arizonans the chance to vote for their right to know.”

Alice Stambaugh, Co-President of Arizona LWV, said, “Transparency is crucial in a democracy. The League of Women Voters of Arizona supports the Outlaw Dirty Money initiative because it is one way to deter corruption and hold our elected representatives accountable.”

Outlaw Dirty Money is a grassroots-led movement to amend the Arizona Constitution to ensure that every Arizonan has the right to know the original source of money being spent on state elections. ODM has more than 2,000 volunteers statewide and has raised more than $200,000 since its March 2019 launch.
